Up until the middle of last year, I’ve never been someone to love wearing red. I used to feel intimidated by this color and would go for more neutrals – blacks, tans, greys – and pinks. However, I started loving red’s boldness and sex appeal. Even for casual outings, I am often spotted in something red – whether a cherry lip or red blouse paired with rip jeans. Here are my two favorite looks in red – one of which I have buyer’s remorse over!
Knee-length Dress
I purchased this dress in Korea last summer. This dress is on the more conservative side, but I like the lightweight material. I can wear it for brunch in the summer or with layers in the winter. I normally go for a feminine, Parisian-style look but could not help but fall in love with the retro vibe the dress gave. I toughened the look up by styling the dress with my favorite brown leather jacket and tassel necklace.
UO Jumpsuit
This red jumpsuit gave me my worst case of buyer’s remorse!
Last year, I spotted the perfect red jumpsuit at Urban Outfitters. Bright cherry red – you could spot it from a mile away. When I first saw it, I immediately thought that the garment would overwhelm my 4’11” frame. However, I couldn’t help but try on the jumpsuit for fun. I put the jumpsuit on, and I was surprised that the garment flattered my long torso and short legs. At the time, I was searching to update my spring wardrobe with jumpsuits instead of dresses. I like how practical and versatile jumpsuits are, as you can easily dress them up and down without much hassle. I could imagine myself wearing this particular red jumpsuit to both casual and formal events.
Now, I try to experiement with more color! Neutrals will always be my go-to color palette, but I hope to brighten up my wardrobe for spring 2019.
With style,
Sarah
