Heart and S(e)oul
Calling all petite shoppers! I think that we can all relate to the struggles of finding prints and silhouettes that are flattering and fun but don’t overwhelm our frames. I love dainty florals and kooky stripes, yet I cannot help but feel self-conscious that I look like a child in them. If only I had legs like those of Karlie Kloss to rock patterns larger than life! On the flip side, my frustrations lead to me toward an impromptu journey of exploring color. Following various blogs, I realized how much petite women value monochromatics to elongate our shorter statures. Drawing the eyes up and down instead of left and right creates vertical illusions of a longer, leaner frame. For my great-grandma’s 90th birthday, I paired an ombre skirt from Old Navy with an army green tank.
Sticking with simpler silhouettes allowed me to make a statement with my accessories. I chose my favorite purse and leopard heels to add some spice to the Kermit-esque look.
Of course, I’ll always follow fashion aficionados who boast about kaleidoscopes and geometric textiles, but now I look forward to sporting soft rustics as we transition into the season of neutrals and pumpkin spice lattes.
With style,
Sarah
