Heart and S(e)oul
Hello, my stylish friends! Currently, I’m spending quality time with family at home in New Jersey for the holidays. How many cookies have I eaten, you ask? Well, I’ll plead the fifth here! I know, I know—guilty as charged for meticulously counting macros during this festive time of year. My rule of thumb is consistency, so when I break my meal plan, I panic to mistakenly believe in the need for extremes to resume back on track.
So, time to say goodbye to this doomsday mentality, put the scale aside, and break my inner creature of habit! Unhealthy and unrealistic, I work on forgiving myself when responding to inevitable cravings whilst (more importantly) breaking my inner creature-of-habit. A double-edged sword, my need for consistency became detrimental to my well-being. Thankfully, the holidays open doors for me to slow down and remain flexible. A song that reminds me to go with the flow is “Joyride” by Swedish duo Roxette. Cheesy? No question. Uplifting? Absolutely! I always feel in a better mood listening to the energizing instrumentals and catchy lyrics. As a kid, I poked fun at my parents’ affinity for late-’80s and ’90s music but, years later, I find myself appreciating these throwbacks as well!
So, let us all follow the lead of Roxette and “join the joyride”. Cheers and happy holidays!
With style,
Sar
