Heart and S(e)oul
Hello, my stylish friends! Am I the only one who prefers the end of fall and early winter to warmer weather for running? Fewer activities scream joy more than pounding the pavement and soaking in the last days of fall foliage. From October to late November, I love spending time outside; writing this entry, I reminisce about yesterday’s weather and feeling a brisk wind chill down my back while observing rolling clouds in the bright, blue sky. I find more enjoyment in long runs, as the drops in the temperature and humidity make breathing feel easier, giving me more pep in my step as I buildup mileage sans buckets of sweat. Pictured below are photos from my run earlier today. Already, we see gloomier evenings and approach the end of leaves’ color changes.
Though I remain loyal to adidas, I found that (from summer training and previous seasons) its BOOST shoes are short-lived and thus went back to New Balance: a staple for many runners with wide feet. I purchased new running shoes for the fall season and knew to stick with the 1080 Fresh Foam. It took me forever to find an older version (purchased the 1080 version 8) with a nice balance of cushioning and stability without the bulk (non-negotiables for surviving long runs). I have a pair of the 1080 version 10 for next spring, though I am slightly thrown off by their clunky heels.
Cheers to fall miles and more smiles!
With style,
Sarah
