Celebrate the warm weather by sporting cheerful complementary colors
Earlier this week, I wrapped up my first year at the University of Delaware. I felt relieved to have finished finals but was nowhere near ready to part with my friends on campus. On the other hand, I look forward to sunnier days and warmer temperatures – excuses to refresh my wardrobe for summer 2019! Recently, I started playing with contrasting hues. A complementary color combination, such as blue and orange, helps any outfit pop.
An easy way to include color into your outfit (without going overboard) is by adding statement accessories. I paired my black tube top from Urban Outfitters and loose summer pants from Charlotte Russe with blue-green chunky bracelets, a printed scarf, and a tangerine wrap. Even in the summer, I stick to layers. Mornings are still crisp and cool, and a wrap is perfect for earlier hours until I need to take it off in the afternoon.
I decided to top the look off with a straw beach hat. At first, I felt self conscious about wearing the beach hat. Without a doubt, the hat definitely made a statement! I wasn’t sure whether it would overwhelm the outfit. I went for an easy yet put-together look and tried making the har work with my ’70s aesthetic.
These colors are perfect for resort wear or a casual brunch. Even if you don’t have a tropical vacation planned for this summer, the cheerful and bubbly color palette is sure to make you feel as if you were at the beach. I visited Nassau Square in Princeton when I shot this look, and I plan on recreating this outfit when I travel to Boston with my family in a few weeks!
With style,
Sarah
