Heart and S(e)oul
Hung’s AW 2019 debut featured jewel-toned fur trims and showcased a consistent hat motif. The designer additionally presented chunky outerwear jackets paired with bulky rubber boots. Off-whites, olives, and cherry reds popped up throughout the show that toyed with the story of the transition from a boy’s childhood to manhood in Hung’s northeastern-preppy collection. A-list models include Julia Banas and Dominik Sadoch, who sported all-black attire rain gear. Inching closer to fall 2019, we can look to Hung’s RTW for inspiration, as we continue to wear athleisure but prefer a look that is more luxurious and put-together for crisp and cool temperatures.
The tranquil runway heavily juxtaposed a male’s rough-and-tough childhood and enhanced Hung’s ideals of masculinity. A gentleman presents himself with poise and grace. However, he embraces the innocence of his youth and acts on his curiosity and desire for exploration.
Geri and I! I’m so thankful for her and Brittany (not pictured), who both helped me throughout the week. I cannot thank REP enough for their lessons and experiences.
I felt like a little kid at Christmas – excited, giddy, and nearly bouncing off of the walls as I stepped foot inside Pier59 for, not only my first professional fashion event, but first NYFW show. Before Wan Hung’s debut started, I helped REP Agency set up and check-in designers and influencers. knew that we were anticipating some A-list names but did not expect to interact with respected editors and celebrities. Many of Hung’s guests additionally came from overseas – specifically Asia – to see his NYFW debut.
I look forward to meeting more designers and attending more shows as exciting as Hung’s debut!
With style,
Sarah
