Hello, my stylish friends! Lately, I’ve let my natural hair run wild and free without straightening my strands; if straightening is involved, it’s minimal to clean up the ends. Looking back at this photo from spring break, I think of how liberating it felt to limit heat applications before heading out to the beach, where I could allow my frizzy, curly hair do its thing. Ever since middle school, I’ve straightened my hair to create the appearance of silkier strands, but I’ve learned to starting loving my curls—even if harder to manage and tame. While I sometimes wish my hair would look smoother, I now realize that I should embrace my natural hair, even if it doesn’t look like the typical hair of someone with an Eastern-Asian background.
