Heart and S(e)oul
I want to preface that I’m 4’11”: 99% of the time, this makes for fewer options. While inconvenient, my height leads to discovering fashion tricks to look taller and leaner. For longer dresses, I realized a while ago that I likely will never find a fitting style in stores, due to limited inventory. However, with some filtered searches, I’m able to stumble upon options online that fit my petite frame.
One of my tricks is that seldom (actually, never) get full-length dresses – instead, mid (or, “tea” length) dresses will suffice. The red dress is actually supposed to be shorter on someone with a taller figure.
I love Dress the Population, sometimes discounted at Nordstrom, that carries extended sizes. Here, I got one of my favorite dresses that I wore to the Fashion Scholarship Fund gala, as well as to a wedding.
There are a few gems that don’t look like they’re for teenagers only. I love to browse the selection at Dillard’s , especially when I’m looking for occasion pieces.
